Bell House

So I came across this cool place called Bell House in NY which host events such as “Beer Wars” which happens Monday, July 20th @ 8pm. The place looks really cool and creates a lot of positive energy.
What it’s like for American craft brewers in the land of Anheuser-Busch? That’s the focus of Beer Wars, a documentary by Anat Baron, former General Manager of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, who follows two small brewers, Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, the subject of a recent New Yorker profile, and Rhonda Kallman, one of the founders of Sam Adams, as they try to go head to head with the big guys. The film has its Brooklyn premiere at The Bell House during a very special edition of our monthly beer and cheese tasting sessions, Flight Club. After the film, sample four beers and Murray’s cheeses paired by brewmasters like Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery, who is featured in the film and will speak from his own experience about the state of American brewing. Tickets, which include the beer and cheese pairing, are just $20.
You can order tickets here.
Check out The Bell House website here.

U.S. Sports Festival Recap
Posted by Sal | Filed under Events, Music, Photography, Shows
Not sure how to describe the festival except for saying “Wow!”. There’s something about the legitimacy of sports documentaries that show perseverance and triumph that give you a great feeling inside. There’s a level of authenticity that the larger Hollywood productions just don’t give. At the same time, movies like this need to be made to shed light and bring awareness to certain situations.
Starting opening night, I had the chance to see Running The Sahara and I must say this movie has so many great sports film elements ranging from perseverance to dedication, renewal and spirituality. For those of you who think extreme running is a joke, these 3 men ran across Africa(the equivalent of more than 200 marathons) in one stretch. I liked this movie because the struggle the runners endured both politically and physically to hold on and finish, but also the funny moments that just seemed to balance out the seriousness of what they were trying to accomplish. This was one of my top 3 of the festival. Great film!
